Studio Practice

My studio space is dedicated to investigating human relationships and the silent ways we connect, distance, and relate to one another. I view the human figure not merely as a subject, but as a vast, expressive landscape—using form, weight, gesture, and physical space to map out internal psychological territories. Through my work, I use visual art to explore a different kind of language, bypassing verbal expression to capture the raw gravity of human interaction.

My current practice centers on oil painting across a diverse range of scales—from intimate small-scale studies to an ambitious, extra-large format canvas currently developing on my easel. This exploration of scale is complemented by medium-scale charcoal drawings, where the immediacy of the charcoal allows for a raw, tactile mapping of form.

This space also serves as the intersection where my past and present creative lives meet. For over two decades in Cape Town, South Africa, I operated a creative practice focused on specialized textile design and fabric manipulation. Today, those structural, tactile sensibilities—along with my practice in handcrafted sterling silver and gold jewelry design—inform the textures, layering, and physical depth I bring to the painted canvas.
